Hi Guys

Sorry not to have been around for so long... we seem to be away and back most of the school summer holidays... so little time to log in!! Too many teachers and students in my household... with long summer breaks!

Had bit of a disaster with tonight's injection as it went everywhere instead of in me!!! So not quite sure what went wrong and whether it was faulty or not... whole pen thing came apart in a way it never has before!!!

I guess I phone Healthcare at home and see what I'm supposed to do.

Any one else had problems with the pen injections?

It's nice to be back reading the comments again.

love to you all

Oh that definitely does not sound good-yes you must ring them and tell them. Did you check to see if the needle cover had come away when you pulled the cap off?

Hi Julie,

That sounds as if the pen could have been faulty.
The only time I had a problem was when I did it in my thigh and it was so painful it made me jump and drop the pen!
When things like that happen we don't know how much of the injection has actually gone in so I didn't do it again, just waited until the two weeks was up for my next one.
I agree you should ring Healthcare at Home just in case you have a faulty batch.

Oh Anne! Firstly, good to have you back. Secondly. I don't have any experience of 'pens' myself but agree that it sounds like it was faulty. I would definitely ring, which you have probable done by now. I hope you are sorted out now.

Thanks everyone.

Result: do another injection tonight! Smile

Method of getting the answer: Confused

Healthcare at Home
I rang Healthcare at Home and they said yes it sounded like it was faulty. Took a bit of a roundabout way... admin said yes it was faulty, they put me through to their pharmacy because 'they would know what to do about taking more or not!'. They didn't!!! Said I needed to phone the Hospital..... back to admin... they say they'll put my next order forward by 2 weeks and give me an extra pen. Later another guy phones to arrange another delivery... to which I said this had already been done! 10/10 for keenness. 3/10 for knowing what to do!!!

Hospital
Rang Rheummy nurse number but that says it can take 48 hours to get back to you. 1/10 Decided to bypass the system and phone the consultant's secretary (who I saw last Friday!). She put me through the anti-tnf admin - they grabbed a nice nurse... who said she'd ask my consultant - as I was visiting my father in law at the hospital anyway this afternoon - she said call in - ask for her and she'll have the answer ready. So I did! Answer was to have another dose and then carry on as I was. 10/10

Apparently as no one knew how much of the dose I may or may not have got - it had to be my consultant's decision as she knows my medical history. She obviously decided that a double dose/partial double dose would do me no harm (which I knew already as others are on double the dose!) - also she'd commented last week how it is the same dose no matter what size or weight you are - which is unusual for drugs... I'm on the larger size!!! - so that sounded fine. Still trying to lose weight!!!! Resisted the chocolate in the garage today!

So if anyone else has a problem - Healthcare at home will replace the syringe if they think it is faulty... but your consultant will have to decided if you need another dose. If the needle hadn't even gone through the skin - then I could have had another dose... but as it hurt (a lot) it did penetrate the skin.. but who knows where it went!!!

So now I am off out for the evening.. and will do it when I get home ThumpUp

Hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.. as it was a lot of phone calls!

Anne xxx
